More than 1.92 million people

This is the number of users who use RTA services daily in the emirate. Indeed, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that in 2023, it transported 702 million passengers. This marks a 12% increase compared to the previous year’s 621.4 million. The transport offer is one of the most varied, including buses, metro, trams, maritime transport, taxis, and shared mobility services.

December 2023 saw a record monthly attendance of 64.9 million, coinciding with the United Arab Emirates hosting COP 28. It was followed by October with 64.2 million passengers and November with 64 million passengers.

New expansion projects are in sight…

Under the approval of the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a 30 km Metro expansion project was launched last November. This new line, named the Blue Line, is expected to carry 320,000 new passengers daily. It will need to integrate with the Red and Green lines. Its purpose: To directly connect the airport and nine main areas, with travel times ranging from 10 to 25 minutes.

The project includes 14 stations, including 3 interchange stations, connecting key areas of Dubai to cope with the projected population growth of the surrounding areas up to one million people in accordance with the Dubai Urban Master Plan 2040.

This project, costing 18 billion dirhams, is expected to be operational by 2029. The plans are already underway in 2024. They include both aerial and underground stations.
