In this period of COVID, many municipalities are launching new solutions to respect the barrier actions as much as possible. Notably in the area of ticket purchasing on public transport. Indeed, in a previous article, we had drawn up a list of solutions for the dematerialization of transport tickets. From Open Payment to SMS tickets, the Valencia municipal transport company, EMT Valencia, has opted for an application, EMTicket. EMTicket, up to 20 e-tickets in your smartphone
In partnership with the Mastercard payment system, the Spanish banking group BBVA and Masabi, a supplier of dematerialised ticketing systems, EMT Valencia has just launched its mobile ticketing application. Nicknamed “EMTicket”, the application offers Valencians a “safe way to buy their bus ticket”, directly from their smartphone. To take advantage of this service, users simply need to download the application and create an account. Multilingual, EMTicket is currently available on iOS and Android.
Valencia, on the road to Mobility as a Service (MaaS)
In order to expand their mobility service in the future, EMTTicket will be based on a “complete and fully functional” Account Based service, allowing 100% secure digital payments. And this thanks to the deployment of banking services developed by BBVA. As stated by the Managing Director of Mastercard Spain, Paloma Real, “This initiative is a clear example of Mastercard’s commitment to making cities more efficient and more sustainable – but most importantly – safe and convenient for the people who live in and visit them. We’re working with partners like Masabi across the urban mobility ecosystem to help cities deliver simple and convenient no-touch transit experiences using the payment method that riders already carry with them,”
